Pilates, Ritual, and Why I’m in Bed by 9:30

I wrote recently about how sleep isn’t rest it’s ritual… because if I am not asleep by 9:30pm, waking up at 5:00am to move my body with intention becomes that much more difficult. I am on an internal timer - no alarms, just the result of consistency.

My mornings start quietly. Bone broth warming on the stove. Electrolyte water follows. No phone glow yet.

And then, Pilates. Why Pilates?

Pilates isn’t HIIT. It isn’t loud. It’s intense precision. Strength through small movements. Breath-led. Nervous-system conscious. Feminine and powerful at once.

It has anchored me into deeper strength – one that isn’t adrenalized but rooted. The kind that truly tests your mental fortitude and the connection you can establish with your every muscle and tendon.
